Method 04 — A disciplined approach to ventures from MIT

Disciplined EntrepreneurshipAmbition needs a method.

An idea does not become a viable venture in one workshop. Disciplined Entrepreneurship structures the questions to address, the choices to make and the evidence to seek.

01 / The practice

What people do.

The team applies relevant parts of Bill Aulet's framework to its project. It clarifies its market, customer, proposition and the assumptions that determine the next steps.

02 / The theory

Why it works this way.

Disciplined Entrepreneurship is a 24-step framework developed by Bill Aulet at MIT. Its value lies in the connections between questions: a segment choice changes the proposition, distribution and project economics.

03 / The outcome

What takes shape.

A structured view of project maturity, outstanding decisions and a working plan.

01

A framework, not a race through 24 boxes

The aim is not to complete the entire method in one session. Scoping identifies what the project already knows, its weakest assumptions and the questions it is too early to answer.

02

Mathias Salanon's experience

Mathias Salanon followed Bill Aulet's teaching at MIT Sloan School of Management and worked with Eyrolles to bring the book and method to French entrepreneurs in 2018. That experience informs Opopoï's facilitation.

From workshop to fieldwork

The team leaves with precise questions to investigate. Any follow-up sessions are agreed in advance to review learning and revise choices, keeping progress through a framework distinct from market validation.

A possible sequence

From the first exchange
to the next steps.

This sequence is illustrative. Content, working time and deliverables are designed around your context.

  1. 01

    Locate the project

Share the intention, known facts and open questions.

  2. 02

    Select relevant steps

Focus on decisions that determine what comes next.

  3. 03

    Examine assumptions

Build a coherent account of the customer and offer.

  4. 04

    Organise learning

Define fieldwork and the next decision points.

FAQ

Good
questions.

Is this only for startups?

No. The framework can support internal ventures and teams building a new activity within an established organisation.

Can we learn the method without a live project?

An introductory session is possible. Deeper support benefits from a specific project and access to potential users.

The next question is yours.

You bring
the question.
We give it form.

A question to clarify. A team to bring together. An idea to put to the test. Let’s start with a conversation.
